MEET CANDACE
Candace Clarke MSW, RSW
As a Registered Social Worker, I offer an authentic, non-judgmental, relational approach to therapy, which prioritizes openness and collaboration in the therapeutic relationship. Over the past decade I have been privileged to work with numerous individuals, children, youth and families during times of crisis, to overcome challenges and meet their goals. I have experience related to mental health, trauma, anxiety, parenting, family and relationship dynamics, coping and stress management. I employ an individual approach to practice, and acknowledge and appreciate the uniqueness of individual circumstances. I am a trauma informed, and strengths focused clinician, working from an anti-oppressive framework, who believes an effective therapeutic relationship is one of the greatest vehicles for change. I recognize individuals as the expert of their own lives and will ensure sessions are client focused and client paced.
As a mother of three young children (including twins!), I take a keen interest in perinatal mental health (fertility to toddlerhood and beyond) and recognize the ever-evolving challenges of parenthood. Parenthood is a complex transformation and a struggle for many. Did you know that perinatal mood disorders are the number one complication of childbirth? And approximately one in five (20%) parents experience perinatal mood disorders? As a parent, and social worker extensively experienced with working with parents, children and families, I know finding a balance and developing self-compassion is difficult! I hope to offer my experience and knowledge to assist others in finding their balance and to achieve health and wellness in their lives. I look forward to hearing your story, and walking with you to find peace wherever you are on your journey. Remember, you are worthy and you deserve to have your needs met!
